But not for a while. The Tech Report is reporting that Hitachi has announced 1 TB hard drives for under $400. They will include 32 MB of cache and new power saving features, but will not be out until the 2nd Quarter. Seagate will have their terabyte drives out sometime in the first half of this year.

ZDNet is reporting on the eventual release of one terabyte hard drives. Some things to look forward to with the release are the continuing decline of prices, especially on the 500 GB and 750 GB drives, the ease of figuring out exactly how much space is wasted on the drive, and the potential size of raid arrays.
